05 - 2 cups fresh or jarred cherries, pitted and halved
06 - 1/2 cup cherry jam or preserves
07 - 1 cup chocolate chips, melted
08 - 1/4 cup sliced almonds or chocolate shavings (optional for garnish)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven and prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Bake the cake in a 9x13-inch pan and let it cool completely.
02 - Once the cake is cooled, cut it into small cubes and set aside.
03 - In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
04 - In a separate bowl, combine the cherry jam or preserves with the pitted and halved cherries. Stir gently to combine.
05 - To assemble the trifle, layer the ingredients in a large trifle dish or individual serving cups. Start with a layer of chocolate cake cubes at the bottom. Follow with a layer of whipped cream, then a layer of the cherry mixture, and drizzle a bit of melted chocolate over the cherries.
06 - Repeat the layers, finishing with a generous layer of whipped cream and a drizzle of melted chocolate on top.
07 - For added decoration, top with sliced almonds or chocolate shavings.
08 - Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2-3 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set. Serve chilled and enjoy.
