Classic Stuffed Cabbage Rolls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 large head of cabbage
02 - 1 lb ground beef
03 - 1/2 cup cooked rice
04 - 1 medium onion, finely chopped
05 - 1 egg
06 - 1 cup tomato sauce
07 - 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
08 - 1 tsp garlic powder
09 - 1 tsp dried thyme
10 - Salt and pepper to taste
11 - 2 cups tomato sauce (for the topping)
12 - 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves, blanching them in the boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until tender. Set aside.
02 - In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
03 - Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf, folding the sides over and rolling tightly to seal.
04 - In a large pot, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce at the bottom. Place the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the pot. Cover with the remaining tomato sauce.
05 - Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour, ensuring the rolls are cooked through and tender.
06 - Optionally, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese during the last 10 minutes of cooking for a cheesy topping.
