Crispy Onion Rings Delight (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 large onions, sliced into ½-inch rings
02 - 1 cup all-purpose flour
03 - ½ cup cornstarch
04 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
05 - 1 teaspoon salt
06 - ½ teaspoon black pepper
07 - ½ teaspoon paprika
08 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
09 - 1 cup cold sparkling water
10 - 1 egg
11 - 1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
12 - Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
13 - Chopped parsley (for garnish)

# Instructions:

01 - Peel the onions and slice into ½-inch rings. Separate all rings and set aside.
02 - In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Gradually add sparkling water and whisk until smooth. Optionally, beat in the egg for additional crispiness.
03 - Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish, ensuring they are ready for coating the onion rings.
04 - Dip each onion ring into the prepared batter, letting the excess drip off. Then coat each ring with breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure even adhesion.
05 - Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 175°C (350°F). Fry the onion rings in batches for 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain the onion rings on paper towels.
06 - Sprinkle the onion rings with chopped parsley. Serve hot with your preferred dipping sauce, such as ketchup, ranch, or spicy aioli.
