Sweet & Savory Holiday Appetizer (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cheese Base

01 - 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened to room temperature
02 - 2 tablespoons grated onion
03 - 1 clove garlic, finely minced

→ Pecan Topping

04 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cubed
05 - 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
06 - 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
07 - 1/2 teaspoon spicy brown mustard
08 - 3/4 cup finely chopped toasted pecans

→ For Serving

09 - Assorted sturdy crackers

# Instructions:

01 - In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, onion, and garlic until thoroughly incorporated. Transfer to a serving plate; shape into a 6-inch disk. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour, then bring to near room temperature before you make the pecan mixture.
02 - In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Cook and stir over medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in pecans.
03 - Cool the pecan mixture slightly for a couple minutes. Spoon over cream cheese mixture, allowing it to fall over the sides. Serve immediately with crackers.

01 - Can be prepared 1 hour ahead up to the pecan topping step
02 - Pecan mixture should be warm when spooned over cheese
03 - Best served at room temperature
