# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup butter
02 - 1 cup water
03 - 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
04 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
05 - 2 cups granulated sugar
06 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
07 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
08 - 2 eggs
09 - 1/2 cup buttermilk
10 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Frosting

11 - 1/2 cup butter
12 - 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
13 - 1/3 cup milk
14 - 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
15 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
16 - 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large sheet pan.
02 - In a saucepan, melt butter, add water and cocoa powder, then bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
03 - In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Pour in the cocoa mixture and stir.
04 - Add eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
05 - Pour the batter into the sheet pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
06 - For frosting, melt butter in a saucepan, mix in cocoa powder, and add milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
07 - Pour warm frosting over the hot cake and spread evenly. Top with chopped pecans if using.
